Archives
The Diocesan Archives provide safe, secure and controlled storage for non-current parish records, including baptism, marriage and burial records, proof of status for legal purposes as well as genealogical purposes.
Archives also holds the parish history files and the Diocesan Pastoral Centre receives calls from parish staff and parishioners seeking historical information for events such as special anniversaries. Photographs and architectural drawings may also be requested and borrowed for displays with approval from a chancellor of the diocese.
The Diocesan Archives also act as a records centre and maintain the central filing system for active and semi-active files of the Diocese. Some of the records that are maintained in the archives include parish and diocesan property, correspondence, deanery minutes and correspondence, diocesan boards and committees, treasury and personnel files.
Staff may be consulted regarding records-keeping, storage and records retention requirements in accordance with Canon Law and legislation in the province of Ontario.
