Faith Animator of Catholic Schools
The Faith Animator will be an ordained priest assigned by the local ordinary with the responsibility for adult faith formation and the fostering of parish-school relations.
Duties of the Faith Animator in Catholic schools will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Organizing Priests'/Principals' meetings with a planning committee;
- Nurturing positive parish and school relationships;
- Liaising with all Board departments;
- Working with the Religious Education and Family Life consultant to implement the Growing in Faith; Growing in Christ Religion program;
- Exploring the full dimensions of the Growing in Faith; Growing in Christ Religion program to engage families and parishes;
- Supporting the faith formation and spiritual development of staff;
- Assisting staff in the planning and preparation of liturgical celebrations and participation in liturgical ministries;
- Participating as the co-leader of the Crisis Response Team in with the psychologist for the Catholic Education Centre;
- Participating in Board committees;
- Supporting the school Chaplaincy Leaders by providing in-service for Chaplaincy Leaders and Religion Curriculum Chairs;
- Offering pastoral counselling for staff in difficult situations and making;
- Supporting the school administrations and pastors to develop Animating Catholic Teaching (ACT) - Elementary/Secondary for each school community;
- Offering Adult Faith Formation programs for trustees, administration and staff;
- Distributing resources for Catholic Education Week and other celebrations during the school year;
- Receiving news services from the Vatican and supporting the Board community to celebrate years as designated by His Holiness;
- Ensuring that resources such as the updated ORDO, liturgical calendar, etc. are provided to the schools.
- All other duties as assigned by the Bishop, Director of Education and/or the Superintendent of Schools.
