Pastoral Coordinator
Overview
The Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage are public celebrations of the Catholic faith and are of utmost importance in the life of the Church. Under the direction of the Bishop as the Head Catechist of the Diocese and the Pastors in a cooperative effort with the Pastoral Team, the Pastoral Coordinator organizes and facilitates all aspects of this Preparation process at a Diocesan level. The Pastoral Coordinator shares a love for the Church, an understanding of the Sacraments and embodies a commitment to evangelization.
Activities/Responsibilities
- Develops sacramental preparation materials for the approval of the Bishop.
- Presents the approved resources to clergy.
- Develops a collaborative implementation plan with ongoing feedback mechanisms.
- Maintains a list of catechists in the Diocese.
- Provides training for catechists facilitating the sessions for candidates.
- Provides training for priests facilitating the sessions for parents.
- Supports pastors and parish-based catechists as requested.
- Develops the Sacrament of Marriage Preparation program for the Bishop's approval.
- Coordinates the team of volunteer experts delivering the Sacrament of Marriage Preparation Program.
- Tracks the budget for the program.
- Communicates with pastors to support couples preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage.
