Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a catechetical program for children aged 3-12 years that is based on the Bible and liturgy of the Church. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a time-tested approach for faith formation. It addresses the deep need of children to get to know God personally.
In a retreat-like atmosphere, through the use of special materials designed just for 3–12-year-olds, children hear the Word proclaimed and grow in their relationship with God. The most essential treasures of the Christian faith, from scripture and liturgy, touch the heart of each child and lead to deep contemplation, prayer, and joy.
The program provides:
-
An opportunity for children to fall in love with Jesus, the Good Shepherd, in a prepared space called an atrium.
-
Guided presentations to aid meditation on Bible scripture and the mysteries of the Christian faith, facilitated by formed adults (catechists).
-
An opportunity for each child's unique spiritual needs and capacities to be respected and nurtured.
There are three levels of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program:
-
Level I for children 3 to 6 years of age
-
Level II for children 6 to 9 years of age
-
Level III for children 9 to 12 years of age
FAMILY EASTER LIGHT SERVICE
Celebrate The Liturgy of The Light at home at Easter. This is celebrated in the Atrium with every group of children. Some of the children will be able to help their parents and lead them through this celebration.
Contact your parish to see if this program or another children's program is offered at the parish.
